Gleeks!! I’m back with another recap. The episode starts where it left us last week with Marley being rushed off stage. She’s been starving herself and using laxatives and the repercussions of it all finally caught up to her. Since the New Directions could not finish their set, they were automatically disqualified and the Warblers won sectionals! To be honest, I think they would’ve won it anyway since their performance was better.
Sue is ecstatic about this and we also find out that this loss is more damaging to the glee club then it seems. Because they have no competition to work towards to now, the glee club lost all rights to their choir room! Sue takes the room instead for the Cheerios. Finn and Mr. Schue try to find other rooms to use but the whole school is booked.
And Sue isn’t the only one happy about this loss. The piano guy is grateful for Sue taking over the room. He finally has lines! He says that he hates the kids in the club and he’s sick of them telling him to “hit it.” This part was absolutely hilarious.
Finn offers to hold a Christmas concert for the school as a swan song but the glee club is not with it. Everyone ventures off to do their own things instead. Artie and Tina are in the Cheerios, Ryder and Jake are on the basketball team, and Joe joins the paintballing team.
Over in NYC, Rachel has been chosen to perform at the Winter Showcase at her school. This is a BIG deal for students because Carmen Tibideaux (the dean of NYADA) personally invites students to participate in this event.
Kurt is also determined to apply for NYADA again. He meets with Madame Tibideaux to discuss his reapplication but she doesn’t want it. She feels like Kurt did not display any vulnerability when he auditioned last time and she was looking for students who really showed emotion.
At the showcase, Rachel wows the audience by singing (yet again) a Barbra Streisand song “Being Good Isn’t Good Enough.” She gets a standing ovation and gets asked to do another song. She chose to sing “Oh Holy Night.” Just when the showcase is about to enter its intermission, Madame Tibideaux announces that Kurt will perform in the show! Kurt is flustered at first but he decides to audition with a Streisand song as well. He ends up wowing the audience as well with his touching performance of “Being Alive.” He gets into NYADA.
After the show, Rachel calls up Finn to discuss the glee club. She inspires Finn to remind New Directions that the glee club is not just about winning; it’s about bringing different individuals together who also share a love of music. Finn then writes an inspirational-Breakfast-Club-esque email to the glee club reminding them what the New Directions is about. In the end, they all return to their senses and rejoin the club.
1. Brittany and Sam are going out…WHAT THE HELL?! I just don’t understand how this happened or how it will work out. I’m going to miss Brittana but I was just getting used to their breakup. I feel like this relationship just came out of left field! The only thing that can possibly make me happy about this relationship is the hope that Santana will return and whoop Sam’s ass.
2. I don’t understand why Kurt wanted to reapply to NYADA. He’s life is perfect right now. He’s living in the city, he’s interning at one of the biggest fashion magazines in the world, and he’s best friends with the editor of VOGUE!! So many opportunities without even going to college. But then again, fashion isn’t Kurt’s only love; he’s extremely passionate about music performance.
Did you guys enjoy the episode? Do you ship Bram? What do you think will happen to the New Directions now?
