'Glee' Recap: Season 4, Episode 8
Sup Gleeks! Before I get into the recap, let me just tell you how incredibly hard it was to watch this episode of Glee. I missed the episode on Thursday because I was supporting my friends who were dancing for one of my school’s biggest dance companies. It was a great show but I did miss Glee because of it. I went to so many different websites just to watch the episode and it took almost 4 hours to watch the episode since the videos kept buffering. But I finally saw it! So here’s the recap!
The episode begins with the graduates of McKinley being home for the holidays. They all catch up at Breadstix and this is when Finn decides to bring them to the glee club to become mentors. The new members of the New Directions are then paired up with the older members. Kitty is paired up with Quinn, Unique is paired with Mercedes, Mike Chang and Ryder are a paired, Marley has Santana and Jake is paired with his brother Puck.
Finn also announces that Gangnam Style will be their song for sectionals.

We finally see what Rachel and Kurt are up to in the city as well in this episode. The duo decides not to go home for Thanksgiving since there are too many bad memories there. Instead, they decide to do Thanksgiving in their Brooklyn apartment. Brody and Rachel make up and he decides to cook for everyone. Kurt also invites his boss, Isabelle Wright (Sarah Jessica Parker) who then invites a ton of other people. This is no longer a typical Thanksgiving dinner; it’s a KiKi!! If you don’t know what a KiKi is, it’s basically a party for calming all your nerves

During the party, Kurt steps out to call his ex boyfriend, Blaine. The two admit that they still love each other and that they’ll try to work something out between them. This scene touched my heart so much. I think I can finally say that I ship Klaine now.

Back at McKinley, everyone is working hard to do their best and win. Marley is going under extreme pressure. Not only is she worried about giving a bad performance, she’s worried about her weight as well. Kitty’s words still have a strong grip on her. Santana notices that something is wrong with her and decides to investigate. She also finds laxatives in Marley’s bag. Santana knows this is Kitty’s doing and tells Quinn about it but Quinn has been fooled by Kitty’s good side. Kitty idolizes Quinn and pretended to be just a lovable Cheerio in Quinn’s eyes.
This leads to a fight between Santana and Quinn. They say harsh words and even slap each other.

Brittany comes and breaks it up but the two are still in a feud. Kitty also tells Quinn that Jake is forcing Marley into sex. So Quinn tells Jake to back off of Marley for good. It seems like Kitty has everyone wrapped around her evil fingers.
It is then time for the New Directions to perform at sectionals. At the very end of their performance, Marley collapses on stage!
This episode was good and I liked how the older characters made an appearance. It seems like everyone is coming together again. I’m still having problems with the storyline focusing solely on the new characters. I would’ve liked to see the older characters chatting with the original glee club members more but I don’t think that will happen. I really can’t wait to see the next episode.
Side notes:
1. Ryder gives up on Marley and says Jake can have her. It seems like him and Jake are truly friends now.
2. Brody’s explanation of cheating on Rachel is that she was giving him mixed feelings and that she’s an adult and has to say what she wants. I think that’s complete and utter nonsense.
3. Brittany thinks Wade is Mercedes clone.
4. It’s pretty clear that the Warblers won this sectionals. They had better song choices and sounded better.
5. I really liked seeing the Unholy Trinity back together.

6. Quinn is dating a married man.
Songs:
Ok so I am highly upset with the song choice for sectionals. Gangnam Style? Really?! And Tina had to be the one to sing. The one song Tina gets this season thus far is Gangnam Style…WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?

Tina is not even one of my favorite characters but I feel like she deserves more than this. Even though Gangnam Style is a popular song, I felt like it could have been executed better anyway. It did not sound good one bit to me. I also question why producers even keep Tina’s character on the show if they’re just going to treat her this way. This really gets me upset. I remember feeling this way about Mercedes but then she finally got her chance to shine. I hope the same happens with Tina and all the other original members as well.
What did you think about this episode? Do you think Gangnam Style was a good choice?
