'Glee' Recap: Season 4, Episode 7
Ok Gleeks, let’s discuss last night’s episode of Glee. I’ll just let you guys know off the bat that I did not really like it. I almost didn’t want to watch it but it did have a few of important points. Anyway, onto the recap.
The episode begins with the newly formed club called The Secret Society of Superheroes Club.

During the club meeting, the glee club is notified that their national’s trophy has been stolen by the Warblers. Blaine goes and tries to get the trophy back but there’s a catch; the Warblers will only give the trophy back if Blaine returns to their choir. At first Blaine considers their offer since his reason for staying at McKinley (Kurt) is no longer there. But after a shot talk with his new best friend, Sam, Blaine comes to his senses and decides to stay with New Directions. Together, Sam and Blaine swoop into the Warbler’s choir room and steal back the trophy.
Now onto more important parts of the episode:
New choir director, Finn, assigns the glee club with a new assignment: dynamic duets. The pairs are Kitty/Marley and Jake/Ryder. In the earlier part of the episode, Ryder and Jake get into a fight over Marley. Finn pairs them up together so that they can resolve their issues and understand each other. Jake reveals to Ryder that he’s never felt like he fit in anywhere because he’s both black and white. Ryder then reveals to Jake that he can’t read.
Jake tells Finn about this and Finn tells Ryder to get evaluated. It turns out that Ryder is dyslexic. When Ryder thanks Finn for helping him out, Finn quickly tells him that Jake is the person he should say thanks to. Ryder shows his gratitude to Jake when he protects Jake from being bullied by the jocks in the cafeteria. Both of them become friends after this.

But this friendship will soon end. Earlier on in the episode, Ryder and Marley had a date planned but when Ryder finds out he’s dyslexic, he made an appointment with a special tutor that would conflict with their date so he ends up cancelling. I guess Marley felt slighted by this and asks Jake out on a date instead!
This episode wasn’t the greatest but I did like how it showcased Blake Jenner’s (Ryder) acting ability. I also liked to see how Sam and Blaine’s friendship is growing. But there’s one problem I’m having with this season so far: all the focus seems to be going towards the new characters. I feel like the writers are just completely ignoring the original choir members.

I thought since Rachel left, the other choir members will get more of a story line but that doesn’t seem to be the case. As much as I love the new characters, I would love to see an episode about Artie, Tina, Sam, or even Joe Hart. I just hope this happens soon.
Sidenotes:
1. The Warblers have a new leader: Hunter Clarington

2. Sam as Bane from The Dark Knight Rises

Do you feel the same way about all the attention the new characters are getting? What did you like the most about this episode?
