'The Glee Project' Recap: Semi-Finals Edition!
GLEEKS! Oh my goodness. This week’s episode of The Glee Project was almost too hard to watch. I was on an emotional rollercoaster. I can’t even…

Ugh, let’s just get onto the recap.
The theme of the week was Actability which I was really happy about. I’m not going to lie, but the last winners were not great at acting. However, the blame for that can also go on the writers for not writing a good story for them. Dianna Agron was the guest mentor and looked amazingly beautiful as usual. For the homework assignment, the contestants had to sing “Addicted To Love” by Robert Palmer while individually displaying different emotions. Dianna says they all do fairly well but Michael stood out the most to her. I honestly think Blake did better but whatevs.

Next up was the group number which was “Perfect” by Pink. The premise of the music video was a melodramatic movie trailer about high school seniors. Each contender had a different role to portray:
1. Aylin basically plays herself (Turkish Muslim) but the twist is that she’s pregnant.
2. Blake plays her mentally abusive jock boyfriend.
3. Michael plays Blake’s best friend and also has a secret relationship with Aylin.
4. Ali plays Michael’s sister who became paralyzed in a horrible car accident which ruined her dreams to become an Olympic runner.
5. Lily plays Ali’s insecure best friend who is also the person responsible for the car crash.
It was cheesy and but perfect at the same time. Just watch!
It was then finally time for the reveal of the bottom three but with a twist of course: ALL the contenders would do a last chance performance for the ‘Glee’ writers!

Up first was Michael performing a slower version of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. He does well and really brought out the emotion of the song. After his performance, the writers say he has a natural charm and would be a hit with the female audiences.
Second was Lily singing “Son Of A Preacher Man” by Dusty Springfield. The writers really like her spunky attitude but they worry that she may be hard to direct. How long have I been saying this!? I swear, I should be a judge.
Third was Ali singing “Here’s To Us” by Halestorm which was amazing. One of the writers, Ian Brennan, says that he can see Ali playing a “promiscuous bitch” on Glee. I actually like this idea! I never was a fan of Ali but if she won this competition, I would be extremely interested to see this happen!

Next was Blake performing “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John. His performance was extremely cute and lovable. The writers say he’s a star but they worry that he may be too perfect; which was a constant worry throughout the whole competition. One of the writers said that Blake doesn’t seem like an outcast to her which is what Glee’s all about…I have to say that I’m getting a little sick of this “outcast” word being thrown around about Glee. All the present characters on the show are extremely hot and talented! How is that being an outcast? I know their storylines are what makes them an outcast but if that’s the case, why is it so hard to do the same for Blake if he won. He’s one hell of an actor and he shows it every week. I don’t see what the problem with him is.

And lastly was Aylin singing “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera. I honestly felt like this performance wasn’t her best but the judges loved her regardless. They are fascinated with her story and they love how fresh it is. Muslims are not represented on TV and it would be nice to see more diversity. Glee could possibly break the barrier if they casted her.
But in the end, the writers wanted to do something different and pick a contender with star quality rather than an interesting background. They ended up choosing BOTH Lily and Michael to go home. PLOT TWIST AGAIN!

I’m actually really happy about this. I wanted Michael and Lily to go home ages ago but I’m glad they proved to me at the last minute why they deserved to make it this far in the competition. This is also the first time I completely agree with who the judges picked to go into the finale. I’m really excited to see who wins. I’m bursting with anticipation and excitement!!!
P.S. Make sure you follow me on twitter because I will be live tweeting my reactions next week! (Sorry west coasters, I’ll be ahead of you. But feel free to follow me after you watch the episode *shameless plug*)

Sidenotes:
You’re all awesome for reading/buzzing my recaps. None of my friends watch the show so it’s nice to have people I can gleek out with from all over. Love you guys, see you at the finale!
btw here's a treat. Watch last season's contestants dance to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen!
Who are you rooting for? Do you think Ryan will pick more than one winner like last season?
You'll ♥
