'The Glee Project' Recap: Season 2, Episode 3
Hey Gleeks! Last night’s episode of The Glee Project was all about vulnerability. The contestants had to delve deep and get in touch with their soft side. This week’s song assignment was “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson which had to be performed for guest judge, Cory Monteith. When choosing verses of the song, Mario shows his diva side even more. I think he forgot that this show is not about him. I know it’s a competition but he came off really rude and stuck up.

Even though it was hard to be emotional with such an “upbeat” song, everyone did great…except for my least favorite contestant, Ali. But in the end, Cory picked Nellie as the homework assignment winner. I personally think Shanna and Aylin did the best but whatever.
For the music video, the contestants had to put all their effort into acting which is probably a good thing since last week was a train wreck. The song used was "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M. In this music video, everyone became a bully AND a victim. In a discussion earlier on in the episode, Lily reveals that she was once a bully. This doesn’t surprise me. I can totally picture her being a full time bitch. But in this episode all the bullying was almost scary!

Lily looks like she’s almost about to kill Aylin in one scene and my favorite, Charlie goes a bit too far. Charlie’s victim in the video is Mario. In an act to wow the directors and get into character, Charlie snatches Mario’s walking stick! Everyone was incredibly shocked by this and it was almost painful to watch. I think if Charlie would have asked for permission to do that, it would have been fine. I think it was a good performance but the fact that no one expected it was wrong. It was especially wrong to Mario. He could’ve fallen over and injured himself because of the shock.
In the end Charlie was asked to be in the bottom three for this action. Mario was also asked to be in the bottom three for being a diva and ignoring judge Nikki’s instructions. Apparently he’s too good for her advice. Lily is also in the bottom three for her failure in lip synching.

Lily does an awesome job in her last chance performance. Her song was “Mercy” by Duffy. Her voice and attitude is perfect for that song. After her performance, Ryan Murphy is unsure of casting her because she is not an underdog. Lily then reveals her softer side and admits how she is not as confident as she seems. Charlie then comes on with an awesome performance of Coldplay’s “Fix You.” He made the song HIS OWN! The arrangement he did was PERFECTION. Ryan Murphy was wowed by this. This song was also very fitting for his actions earlier on in the episode. Charlie has proven that he deserves to be on Glee.

And finally Mario performed “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard Of Oz (do I even need to say where it’s from). His singing was average. With such a well known song, he could of tried to make it different some way. After the performance, the judges brought up his incident with Nikki in the recording studio. During the recording session, Mario got highly defensive when Nikki informed him about his terrible pitch. When the judges brought this up, Mario retracts everything he said. He cries and says how he understands what Nikki is saying and yada yada yada. He’s basically doing anything to stay on the show, even if he has to admit he’s wrong! *gasp*

But little do the judges know that back in the waiting room, Mario was acting completely different. He says he doesn’t understand why he was chosen to be in the bottom three when there are people who sing worse than him on the show. This rubs everyone in the wrong way. When the other contestants tell him he’s wrong for saying that, he completely rejects their opinions. The callback list is posted and the judges decide not to eliminate anyone. Everyone was happy…accept for me.

I think Mario deserved to go home. His singing is too safe, his acting is okay, and his attitude is disgusting. I know Lily has a bit of an attitude problem but the thing with her is that she’s working on it. She’s also an incredible singer and she has a fiery personality. I think the judges want Mario because of his story. This is the very same reason why Tyler is still on the show. But I guess I’ll have to wait longer before I can see Queen Mario leave the show.
Side notes:
Blake is awesome. He’s a great singer, actor, and he’s hot. I think I have a reality show crush! It’s safe to say that he and Charlie will probably be in this competition for a long time.
Michael is also a good one but it seems like he has no personality. I don’t root for him. Maybe he needs more camera time to open up? All I know is that the boy has talent.
Who do you think should’ve left? Are you happy that no one was eliminated?
